Season's Greetings from all of us at Pratt & Larson

It's that time of year already, Ornament time!
A lot of  care goes into making our holiday ornaments every year - just like our tile.
Here's a peek behind the scenes.

From an original carving by Michael Pratt we made a mold for the press that lines up to stamp the front and the back, 4 at a time.

We made over 2000 ornaments and each one was hand-sanded and had a hole drilled at the top.

Then the ornaments were then set up on wire shelves to be glazed.

Then the ornaments were carefully loaded into the kilns and fired at close to 2000 degrees.

Season's Greetings from Pratt & Larson

We've been busy in the factory making new holiday ornaments!
If you've been collecting our ornaments over the years you know we had a long tradition of making little house ornaments, maybe you have a whole neighborhood in your tree by now! For 2012 we begin a new theme ~ Snowflakes.

Each one was pressed and the hole carefully drilled by hand.

Then they were glazed and fired in a sparkly metallic glaze or a beautiful wintry blue.

We boxed them up and shipped them out all over the country.

So we could wish you all a wonderful holiday season!
Happy Holidays from all of us at Pratt & Larson and best wishes for the New Year.

Happy Holidays!

We've been hard at work getting ready for the holiday season and the coming New Year. We are all excited about the new products to be released this coming year and we're busy assembling new displays and designing new concepts and we are sure you will love them! Keep an eye on the blog for some upcoming "sneak peeks" of all our new ideas. The factory and showroom will be closed from Sat. Dec 24th to Tues. Jan 3rd. so everyone can have a much deserved holiday break.

Every year we make a holiday ornament to send out to our friends and associates.
Here's a few photos to show you how we do it.

Every year Vance creates the original sculpture

It's carved in Plasticine

Then we make a plaster mold for the Ram press

We spend a few days stamping them out and cleaning them up!

We hope you have a wonderful holiday and we look forward to working with you in 2012! Seasons Greetings from all of us at Pratt & Larson!
