New Shapes from Pratt & Larson

The first thing to come to mind when you are thinking about tile is usually the classic but utilitarian square and rectangle or subway tile. While we have lots of variations on those timeless squares and rectangles, Pratt & Larson has a wide array of interesting and contemporary tile shapes as well. We've just recently added several new ones. Download the brochure from our website.

This is our new Elongated Fan. It's beautiful in a single color or in color blends, both light and dark, as you can see in these two concept boards.

Similar in style is the new Elongated Crescent. It's a bit more streamlined and smaller than the Elongated Fan and almost has a retro look in the bright color version to the right. These pieces come loose so you can set them in any direction. The images above show you a couple of options, the first is all oriented in the same direction, the second changes direction from one row to the next, changing the look of the pattern dramatically.

The Rhomboid and the gem shaped Facet offer some sharp angles in contrast to the soft curves of the Elongated Crescent and Fan. In either high contrasting colors or a softer color blend they have a very contemporary and modern feel.

The Hourglass shape is a fresh take on a classic pattern sometimes known as the dog bone. Pratt & Larson's version uses a single shape that suggests a woven pattern when used in two colors. Choose a high contrast color combination for a dramatic basket weave or checkered effect.

The last time we added new shapes was back in 2012, check out the blog post for those fun shapes here.

Pratt & Larson Mosaics

If you came to our booth at Coverings in Las Vegas this year then you know we've been hard at work on our mosaic patterns. We cleaned up the shapes, tightened up the grout lines and sorted through the patterns; imagining them in all sorts of fresh color combinations. There's a new brochure with images of these patterns for inspiration and it also has black and white line drawings to use in designing your own color combinations. Download the brochure here

Choose high contrast colors for bold patterns, and bright colors for a touch of whimsy.

Go with low contrast and pale color combinations for a quiet subtle look.
With our hundreds of glaze colors to choose from there is no end to the variations.

Change the colors,
or change the scale. There's so many options.

Use the line drawings to design your own color combinations.
Just tell us where you want the colors placed and we'll send you a sample.
And there's so many colors to choose from....

Coverings 2014

It was so wonderful to see everyone at Coverings this year! It seemed like everyone was in good spirits and having lots of fun. We got lots of terrific feedback on our new products too. Here's a little recap in case you didn't make it to the show this year. Not everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas after all!

Building the booth
The outside of the booth featured factory images
The tiled entry
Building the booth was quite an undertaking! It took a week of hard work at the convention center to put it up and getting to that point was months in the making back in Portland.

From the very beginning
Our focus this year was on new Sales Tools for our vendors. We offered the newest version of our Sales Tools Credenza and a great new way to show our tremendous color palette and our shapes and sizes in new framed display panels.

The Sales Tool Credenza with the 2x4 Color Palette Panels
The Color Panels also come in 2x2's which allows you to show all our colors in a smaller foot print

The Shapes and Sizes Panels show our best selling field tile sizes and shapes and all of our mosaic sizes are grouped together so you know which ones come mesh mounted.

The Mosaic Package
The Mosaic Package is a fun new way to display our huge assortment of mosaic patterns. The package comes with 20 Mosaic Pattern 12x12 display boards for the wall and a floor box that can either hold 32 more display boards or 56 white pattern tool boards. With the rising popularity of mosaics this is a terrific new package for any showroom.

Large display panels show off new product
We had lots of new product to show as well! This wall featured large displays of our new pieces. Larger format tile has been very popular lately and we have some new sizes available like 6x18! We also presented the new Textured tiles at the show along with our new dimensional tiles - like the new 5x10 Bevel and the Recessed Frame series. Check out the new Catalog Addendum available on our website.

Packed up and going home.
We found a little time to take in the sights and we had fun at the Art Tile Party and before we knew it, it was time to pack it up and go home. We hope you had a great time at the show too! Let us know if there is any info you'd like about our new products or how to order the new sales tools for your showroom.

Pantone Color of the Year - Emerald

Emerald Green
Pantone tells us that Emerald is the color of the year for 2013. I took a look at our palette and while we've been known for our rich earthy Craftsman greens Pratt & Larson also makes quite a few brighter, more Emerald greens too.

There are beautiful greens in all our glaze families.

If Emerald is a little too dark for you we have a green for everyone.
And of course we can custom color match too!

There's more Emerald green pictures on our Pinterest page too, be sure to follow us for lots of great pictures.

New Shapes at P&L

We're introducing a ton of new shapes to our line! It all started when we added the Arabesque shape to our line, now we just can't seem to stop.

First we have the Small Fan. It comes netted in two patterns and with all of our colors to play with there are so many possible looks. As you group them together you can see where some of our other new shapes came from...

The Lantern has a great curvy shape. You can see it's inspiration in the board above, four small fans make one Lantern.  It's a more contemporary take on the traditional arabesque.

Then there's the Scalloped Fan which was also inspired by the Small Fan. Four small fans equal one Large Scalloped Fan. In gray I think they look like our cloudy Portland sky.

They also come in a small size, in case you're not a Portlander and like a smaller dose of clouds.

Finally there are a few new shapes with a very contemporary look.

The Small Trapezoid, the Flat Cross and below is the Square Lantern.

We've been having a such a great time coming up with all these new shapes there's bound to be more.
 Stay Tuned!
